to me, and I'm no expert, that looks like a valve trombone!

Amazingly, though not an expert, jayroy has the answer! It is a valve trombone. But Simran, I'm not sure how they are born and - thankfully, even I'm even less sure of the process prior to its birth. We could google that . . . .
